The suburb of Oxton is an affluent area, a much sought-after village to live in, and features a variation of different properties. Oxton itself is a conservation area with a strong local community. Close by is Prenton which has a lot of semi-detached properties and is popular with families thanks to its good local schools and easy access to Birkenhead and Liverpool. Victoria Park is a popular destination in the area and offers fantastic panoramic views of the River Mersey. The park attracts a lot of wildlife, especially birds. There is also a play area for children to take advantage of. Victoria Park Cricket Club is also local, and features three bowling greens and a full-sized football pitch.
The Arno in Oxton is held in high regard for its rose garden and small allotments, while families like to take advantage of the play areas and open spaces at the bottom of Duck Pond Lane. Oxton Fields are also enjoyed by local walkers.
Oxton Cricket and Sports Club has great cricket facilities for people to use, as well as being able to provide access to other sports including tennis, bowls and lacrosse. The club is also available for junior members to join.
There is a large Total Fitness in Prenton, just off Junction 3 on the M53, which has a vast range of facilities including a gymnasium, running track, five-a-side football pitches and three swimming pools. Prenton Golf Club offers a challenging, yet attractive and well-kept, links course. The club also plays host to regular social events.
