The Wirral property market one week post-Brexit

One week after the UK voted to leave the EU and the Wirral property market is being keenly scrutinised. 

How the sales and lettings market has been reacting in the days following the decision and providing regular insights is independently owned Karl Tatler Estate Agents & Lettings. 

Managing director Karl Tatler said: “We believe its essential to remain calm and measured during a period of potential change in the marketplace. This approach has been welcomed by people we have been speaking to about the Wirral property market post-Brexit.

“Whilst it is too soon to make any bold predictions for the future, we are keeping a close eye on sales and lettings activity within the market. We have closely analysed what has been happening in the local market in general, and from our own experience within the market, and haven’t seen a dramatic change.”

For the second quarter of the year there has been a 20% increase in sales across the Wirral when compared to 2015. The “Karl Tatler Wirral Residential Property Market Report”, which was compiled using independent Land Registry data, summarised that 2015 was a record year of sales with 5,038 completions taking place across Wirral. 

Data analyst for Karl Tatler, Andrew Spink, said: “The Wirral market has seen a consistent level of new properties coming to market over the past few weeks, and in the short period since the referendum result our offices have remained busy listing properties and processing sales. New buyers are now joining those who decided to wait for the result which will add increased competition for the weeks ahead. Furthermore, in recent weeks the viewing numbers have eased however the number of sales have risen. This suggests serious buyers are in the market, aided by an increasing stock of quality properties listed.”

Sarah Findlay for Karl Tatler Conveyancing said: “We saw a slight decrease in new client enquiries in the week running up to the vote, but received double the number in the week following. We believe that this a strong indicator of an ongoing confidence in the property market in the Wirral and continue to hold a positive outlook for the future.”
